Control iTunes and your DAW from anywhere

I needed to find a wireless controller for my digital audio workstation because I do a lot of recording of myself. Anybody who records themselves can understand that you either have to be within arms reach of your computer or you have to deal with hitting the “Record” button and running into the other room and try to get ready to record by the time the song starts.Frontier - Tranzport

There are a couple of great ways to solve this problem, but I like Frontier Designs Tranzport . You can not only control the Play Pause and Record fucntions, but you can jump between markers and even use the jog shuttle wheel to scroll in the timeline.

The super cool benefit that you get with this controller is that you can control your iTunes as well. That’s right. You can be in the other room and wirelessly control your iTunes collection. Jump to new playlists, play, pause, you can even see what is playing in your collection on the LCD display screen, how cool is that. I haven’t checked out the range because I have a small apartment and its works pretty much anywhere but I wonder if I can get it to work from outside?

SoundForge 9

If you are looking for a good swiss army knife of a sound editing application for the PC, you don’t need to look any further than Sound Forge 9. I recently installed this at work after working for a long time on a previous version 6 for a long time.

While the new version does need some .Net install stuff to get it working, once it is installed you will like how responsive the application is. You can easily download a demo version and convert to a full license with no hastles.

Great markers, for getting around, good plugins for saving bad spots and a whole lot of audio formats to move between.
